Mangalore, Oct 12: CPI(M) state council member G N Nagaraj has opined, that democracy will suffer if the Karnataka Forum for Dignity(KFD) is supported.
Speaking at a press conference held here on Friday October 10, he asked the administrative machinery to keep constant vigil on the activities of KFD. Appropriate action should be taken against those who disturb peace and order, he urged.
The emergence and growth of KFD is detrimental to the country's democracy. If people support it, democracy will suffer. Hence, even the Muslim community will eventually suffer, he warned.
At any cost, Muslims should not support the KFD. "If you support it now, you will face problems in future," he said.
"The information that explosives were supplied from the coastal belt for the bomb blasts and terrorist activities and that terrorists were sheltered here, is a worrisome development. The state and the central government should join hands to contain terrorism," he demanded. He also warned the intelligence machinery against branding all the minorities as terrorists and curtailing their democratic rights. "If this is done, the base of terrorism will further expand," he warned.
The statement of Advani terming attacks on churches as shameful, shows his dual stand. His stand will get vindicated only if he orders eviction of attackers from the Sangh Parivar outfits. Out of those who claimed in the press conference, responsibility for attacks on churches, only Mahendra Kumar has been arrested. Why Vishwa Hindu Parishat leaders have not been arrested?, he questioned.
CPI(M) district secretary B Madhava was present at the press conference.
