Bengaluru, Aug 3: A four-year-old child, who suffered severe burn injuries after spilling hot sambar all over his body, and who had been admitted into Victoria Hospital here for treatment, breathed his last without responding to efforts made by the doctors to save him.

The victim of this tragic incident was Vivek, son of Suresh and Asha couple from Jayanagar here. Suresh and his wife, who belong to Shivamogga district, had shifted to the city a few years back. Asha used to work for the family of retired government official, Ramachandra, in Jayanagar T Block since the last 18 months and the owner had provided space to the family to stay in his house; Suresh used to work for a juice shop.

Ramachandra's family had left for USA a few days back. On July 29, Asha had prepared sambar by using horse gram. Some workers had visited the home of the house owner that day to attend to some carpentry work. The workers found that Ramachandra was not at home, and as such, they approached Asha's to inform her that they have come to do the carpentry work. When Asha went out to see who had come, Vivek pulled at the utensil containing hot sambar placed on the platform inside the kitchen, as a result of which the sambar got emptied on him. The mother rushed to the child's rescue on hearing his cries and took him to a private hospital where some treatment was given. The boy was then rushed to Victoria Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, August 2.

Tilak Nagar police have registered a case about this incident.
