Bantwal: Two-year old falls into open septic tank, dies

Bantwal, Jul 28: A child fell into a septic tank that had been cleaned but left open and lost her life. This tragic incident happened in Thumbe village in the taluk on Friday July 27.

The toddler whose life was snuffed out in this freak accident has been identified as Ayesha (2), daughter of Ahmed Bava from Volavoor, Thumbe.

It is said that the child was moving around with the support of a walker when she suddenly slipped and fell into the open septic tank that had been cleaned. It is said that the family, which had arranged for cleaning the septic tank, had completed the work and had prepared to close the lid of the tank when tragedy struck. No one noticed that the child along with her walker had fallen into the tank. After about half an hour, the family noticed that the child was not around. They went searching for the baby and found her inside the tank along with her walker.

The child was retrieved from the septic tank and admitted into a private hospital nearby, but treatment given to the child could not save her life.
