Vijayapura, Jun 30: The wife of an accused in the case of murder of Gangadhar Chadchan, brother of alleged murderer, Dharmaraj Chadchan living on the banks of river Bheema, committed suicide on Friday June 29. She jumped into river Bheema near the barrage at Dhulkhed in Indi taluk of the district.
The victim happened to be Kanchana (32), wife of Siddagondappa Madave, accused in the murder case. Siddagondappa had married Kanchana ten years back. Siddagondappa had two wives, out of whom, elder wife, Kanchana, used to live in her parental home at Shegaon in Solapur district.
It is said that Siddagondappa, who has been named as accused in the murder of Chadchan, is the son-in-law of Mahadeva Bhyragonda, main accused in the case. As per information, Kanchana is also a distant relative of Bhyragonda. In Gangadhar Chadchan murder case, Siddagondappa has surrendered in the court and police personnel of criminal investigation department have taken him into custody. Kanchana, who came to know this, was very much hurt and therefore would have ended her life, policemen stated.
About the suicide, a case was registered in Jhalaki police station. Meanwhile, anticipatory bail application filed by main accused in the case, Mahadev Bhyragonda, which was heard by the second additional district special court on Friday, reserved its order for July 2.
