Bengaluru, Jun 28: A lady committed suicide, having been frustrated over the refusal by her lover to marry her. The incident happened at Yeshwanthpur here on Wednesday June 27.
The victim has been identified as Supriya (19). It is said that Sharat and Supriya were in love with each other since a year. On Tuesday, Supriya received a call from Sharat, informing about his decision not to marry her. Sharat reportedly told Supriya that he was in love with another girl.
Frustrated at this development, Supriya went to the terrace of her home and consumed poisonous substance in a bid to kill herself. She was immediately admitted into a hospital. However, she did not respond to treatments and breathed her last on Wednesday.
Parents of Supriya said that their daughter ended her life because of harassment at the hands of Sharat. Yeshwanthpur police, who have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Sharat, have taken him into custody. He is being interrogated.
When the police moved to arrest Sharat, parents of the girl and her relatives reportedly thrashed him in the presence of policemen. Family members of Sharat said that police and parents of the girl would be entirely responsible if something drastic happens in Sharat's life.
