Mangaluru: Thieves take away cash, jewellery, when family members are asleep

Mangaluru, Jun 27: Thieves who entered a house in Iddya village near Suratkal in the early hours of Tuesday June 26, took away ornaments and cash amounting to Rs 2,30,000. The house in which this theft was committed belongs to a person named Nagesh Kamath.

The thieves broke open the rear door of Nagesh Kamath's residence and stole gold ornaments worth two lac rupees kept inside an almirah apart from Rs 30,000 in cash. The theft happened at around 3 am when the family members were sleeping in the bedroom.

Nagesh Kamath, who heard sound of opening of the drawer, woke up and raised an alarm. At this, four persons wearing something which looked like raincoats with monkey caps covering their head and faces, rushed out of the houses and disappeared in darkness.

Kamath thereafter filed police complaint in Suratkal station.
