Udupi, Jun 25: A day-long workshop for musicians organized by Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkoota, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi on the occasion of its decennial celebration on Sunday, June 24. The workshop was inaugurated by Hindustani singer Pandith Ravikiran, was held at Shivagiri auditorium, Bannanje.
More than 60 trainees took part in the workshop. Bhaskar Basrur, president, Udupi, Girish, Sharath Uchila, Mukta, Meera Kamath and others were present.
They taught the particpants how to be professional after first phase of learning music. They shared tips on personality improvement and also on how to perform better with expression and so on. The finalists and participants of Voice of Udupi season also participated in the workshop.
Professional singers Pandith Ravikiran, Yashwanth Acharya and singer Sangeetha Balachandra imparted their experience with aspiring singers along with musical instruments.
Pandith Ravikiran said, “Music is beyond language. When there was no language, music was the first language to express one’s feelings. Music was developed by language (lingual science). Science developed through nature. Now, science has advanced and is controlling everything in nature.”
Followed by the workshop, a competition was conducted for the trainees at the end of the programme.
Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkoota, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, completed 10 years of its existence. It has been organising many reality singing shows and social activities.
