Mangaluru, Jun 18: Superhit Sandalwood movie 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' bagged the Best Film award at the 65th Jio Filmfare Awards (South) 2018 presented on June 16 in Hyderabad. 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' is directed by Raj B Shetty and produced by Suhan Prasad and Pawan Kumar.
The duo, producer Suhan Prasad and actor-director Raj B Shetty, who received the award, made their hometown proud as they delivered the acceptance speech in Tulu.
'Ondu Motteya Kathe' turned out to be a dream debut for Raj B Shetty, grabbing attention of cinema enthusiasts. The Kannada film has received heaps of praise from audience all over Karnataka and abroad.
The star cast of 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' includes Raj B Shetty, Shreya Anchan, Shailashree, Amrutha Naik, Usha Bhandary, and VJ Vineeth.
'Ondhu Motteya Kathe' was released in Germany and USA. 'Ondhu Motteya Kathe' was the lone Sandalwood film which made to New York film festival and Bagri Foundation film festival.
Speaking to daijiworld, Raj B Shetty said, "I am very happy to bag this award for 'Ondu Motteya Kathe'. The film was started with a small idea, in a small place, Mangalruru. Four movie enthusiasts worked hard and the film went on to do well at the box office. 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' will encourage people who want to do movies. If the film is good and made out of a small idea, people will definitely watch it.”
Speaking on his future projects, Raj B Shetty said, "From being a director, I have transformed myself to an actor. Lots of projects are coming up like 'Maya Bazaar', 'Ammachhi Emba Nenapu', 'Turthu Nirgama', 'Fiction' and 'Gubbi Mele Brahmastra'.
"Direction is my passion. Somewhere between acting and writing, I am not finding time to direct. As of now, I have written a story up to interval, keeping Mangaluru as a centre place. I am planning to shoot in December," he added.
