Margao, Sep 22: The project for building parking facilities in the city is yet to see the light of day. Meanwhile, with each passing day parking woes are getting worse. Now, Margao Municipal Corporation (MMC) has decided to start a 'pay and park' system on the outskirts of the city and has identified three locations for this purpose.
Land at Kadamba bus stand, old fish market, and pick-up stand, has been identified by MMC for starting the pay and park system. According to sources, in all 9,000 sq mts of land will be occupied for paid parking purposes.
Margao is known as a commercial and cultural city which sees thousands of people each day; but they all face parking problems. Some NGOs had approached the MMC to chalk out plans to stem this problem, but the MMC had always sidelined the issue.
