Mysuru, May 22: Heavy rainfall was experienced in Mandya and Mysuru districts on the night of Sunday May 20 and again on Monday. After a tree fell on her, a software engineer lost her life at Mysuru on Monday.

Revathi (25), a Chennai-based software engineer employed with Infosys Technologies, travelling by auto rickshaw died after a tree got uprooted and fell on the three-wheeler. In this accident, which happened near ESI Hospital on KRS Road, two others suffered injuries. The injured persons happen to be Revathi's friend, Vasavi Gupta and auto rickshaw driver, Raju. Both of them stand admitted into a private hospital here.

Revathi, who is from Chennai, had come to the city to meet her friend, Vasavi Gupta. On her return journey to Chennai, Vasavi accompanied Revathi in the auto rickshaw to the railway station here, when a tree that was in the middle of the road suddenly fell on the auto rickshaw, killing Revathi instantly.

Lightning which hit a house in Bookanakere village in K R Pet taluk resulted in injuries to two persons. After the wall of a house on Anechowdanahalli collapsed, four persons inside the house suffered injuries.

Mandya district also received copious rain coupled with lightning and thunder on Monday. Most of the roads were inundated and vehicle drivers had a hard time. The district received average rainfall of 23.6 mm on Sunday night as heavy rain pounded the district for two hours from 7.30 pm. Nagamangala in the district got 37.1 mm rain.
