Mangalore, Sep 10: It is learnt that Jeevan Kiran D'Souza, working in an Iranian ship that was captured by pirated on August 21 at Somalia, called home on Monday September 8, the day of the Monthi Fest.
It is gathered that the contractors of the ship facilitated the conversation on a request made by Kiran's elder brother. Kiran's mother was alone when the call came. During the two-minute talk that was possible, Kiran told his mother that the caught seamen are being supplied with stale bread and things which are difficult to eat. He also requested her not to tell others about his call, as he did not want others to worry about him. He asked her to pray to the Lord for his early release. His mother informed that Kiran's voice was filled with concern and grief.
