Mangaluru, May 12: A complaint stands registered at Kadri police station here against activist Robert Rosario for allegedly spreading hatred in the society during the ongoing state assembly election.
The complaint was filed by Deepak D’Souza Attavar on Friday, May 11.
Deepak D’Souza filed the complaint after a video made by Robert Rosario was sent to voters through WhatsApp and Facebook on Friday.
The complaint reads, “As per the model code of conduct, distorted facts cannot be published to confuse the voters, besides creating enmity between various religious communities. Robert Rosario, a BJP activist, is spreading false news. He has created a video with his statements accusing the Christian priests on the Church attacks which took place in September 2008. He has accused of them of many matters so that Hindu voters will get ill feeling and vote for BJP,”
“His statements have been inciting religious hatred against the entire Catholic community, besides rift with other communities. The statements, in the video made by him, will create communal disharmony. Besides ridiculing clergy community, he has given the statements in such a way that the Catholic community is planning to vote for Congress party. His allegations are false, baseless and without any substance,” the statement continues.
Deepak D’Souza has requested the police to stop Robert Rosario from spreading hatred in society and to take action against him at the soonest.
First Information Report (FIR) was registered by Kadri police on Saturday, May 12 against Robert Rosario under section 153 (A) of IPC.
