Bengaluru, May 2: The Congress on Tuesday May 1 hit back at Prime Minister Modi over his 'ache kapde' remark and posted a couple of pictures and also came up with a video of Modi at some events in the past seen wearing expensive clothes.
Congress' social media and digital communications head Divya Spandana shared the pictures on Twitter and asked whose credit was used to pay for those expensive clothes.
"@narendramodi ji so fancy! I love the Loro Piana jacket on you! Only 17,000 Euros! Very cheap. Who’s credit card was used to pay for this Modi ji? (sic)" she tweeted.
The Congress also shared a video of compilation of pictures where Modi is seen wearing expensive clothes with a caption 'The emperor's new clothes', and the old Hindi song 'Sala Main To Sahab Ban Gaya' playing in the background. The Emperor's New Clothes happens to be the name of a well-known short story about an emperor who was duped with the promise of a golden suit by two conmen.
It may be recalled that Modi during a rally in Chamarajanagar on May 1 had mocked the Congress and said, ""Hum toh achhe kapde bhi nahi pehen sakte (We don't even get to wear good clothes)."
The hillarious reply from the Congress has amused quite a number of netizens with the tweet going viral on social media.
