Mangaluru: 26-year-old dies on spot after lorry rams into two-wheeler near Pumpwell

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru(DC)

Mangaluru, Apr 29: A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot after a lorry ran over him near Pumpwell here on Sunday April 29.

The deceased has been identified as Akshay S (26), son of Vishwanath, a resident of Kumpala.

The lorry heading towards Mangaluru rammed into Akshay's two-wheeler, killing him on the spot.

The lorry driver sped from the spot soon after the accident.

Akshay was a member of the Aryans dance troupe.

It is learnt that he was on his way to a dance programme when the accident took place.

The locals who gathered at the spot blamed the slow pace of flyover work and said that several accidents had taken place because of the road that has been dug up.

We are ashamed we have a MP specialized in vomiting venom against other faiths. He boasts about setting the whole district on fire. Did our law hold him responsible? Did he notice and protest against the flyovers at Pumpwell and Thokkottu? He boasted about inaugurating the pergude maate in Padil. What do you expect. We are illiterate to vote for an illiterate. Do we know the value of education? How can even the educated people vote for someone who is uneducated and is communal in his heart and mind?

Without blaming any one for any lapses let us try and look into the reason (cause of the accident killing a young man in his prime life.

It is expedient that driver of the heavy vehicle should have taken care on the road which is not perfect. His negligence has cost the youngster his life.

It is time that department of crime and traffic thinks of levying heavy fines for rash and negligent driving.

I join scores of people in consoling the parents and relatives of the dearly departed soul.

Stupid lorry driver is from Kerala. They should ban the truck and the driver for entering Karnataka state. These keralite drivers are very reckless i have been watching these trucks every time i drive on highways. So scary the way they drive thinking the highway belongs to their forefathers. Idiots..

Rest in Peace dear Brother, Deeply hurt by watching a young body on road.
Sick minded Pumpwells, and their bhakths never protested for these never-ending flyover works, anyway they are not against corruption and such ignorances of govt, so they will no lead any protest, Bandh, Speach. Because your death won't benefit them instead defame their firebrand MP ever smiling Nalin Kumar. They won't take your body in a procession because you are not killed as they wish someone to be killed. You are lost only for your parents, Your Friends, relatives and for the genuine Mangaloreans.

RIP Akshay. Even the rider was wearing a helmet but riding/driving it is really risky. What is our MP doing only trying to put DK on fire, useless fellow we should not elect this fellow in the next general election. PM Modi promised to build 83 K kms in five years and 41 kms per day. But the stretch from Thokuttu to Nantoor is not more than 9kms. Modi has only fooled the people of India.

While we the time to fight in the name of BJP,congress, muslim, hindu, christian, sikh ,,,bunt ..poojari.,,etc
Unfortunately we do not discuss or highlight reall issues such as these ,..which is the real reason of electing our representatives...NExt time a elected candidate visits your home seeking will you and me ask these questions to our elected representatives..what was promised and what was delivered ...If something is not delivered against the manifesto ..what are the reasons of non compliance?
We should have laws which should enable ordinary citizens to to drag the elected representatives and elected govt to court for non compliance of the promised manifesto

Highway authorities are fully responsible for this loss of life. It is their duty to provide proper road while construction is going on.

On another note, there is no one checking the quality of road laid.... one service road just completed has started peeling off even before the rainy season. Tax payers money is washed down the drain!

Ivar, I have learnt that they cannot put speed breakers on this road because it is a National Highway. Therefore don't blame the local administration or state government.
Ask your beloved fire expert MP to find a solution soon before more innocent Mangaloreans die here. Tell him about another point at Gorigudda crossing on the same highway where an accident is waiting to happen.
