Bengaluru, Apr 20: Janata Dal (Secular) on Friday April 20 released the second list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka elections.
The JD(S) had announced its first list of 126 candidates long back, on February 17.
On Friday, it released its second list of 56 candidates, taking the total number to 182 out of 224 assembly seats.
Veteran leader Amarnath Shetty has been given the ticket from Moodbidri.
He will be up against Congress candidate and sitting MLA Abhaychandra Jain and BJP candidate Umanath Kotian.
Most of the other names in the list are those who shifted from other parties to the JD(S) after being denied tickets from the other two parties, including former BJP MLA from Chickpet Hemachandra Sagar, who will now contest in the same consituency on JD(S) ticket.
JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy's name also figures in the second list. He will contest from Channapatna constituency.
Sources had said that JD(S) had been planning to field youth leader Ashwin Pereira from Moodbidri, but decided to go with Amarnath Shetty.
