Bengaluru, Apr 20: As per indications, chances of Real Star Upendra's political outfit, 'Prajakiya' entering the election fray in the assembly election being held on May 12 in the state are bleak. As per information available, Upendra will not fight this election nor will he pledge support to any individual or party. Therefore, 'Prajakiya' will remain neutral for the present.
Upendra began his political career through his 'Karnataka Prajnvantha Janata Party (KPJP)' recently. Within six months, he walked out of the party and announced formation of 'Prajakiya'. His fans were excited about the political career of their idol, but sources say that Upendra has decided against making debut in electoral politics in a hurry.
'Prajakiya' is yet to be registered with the election commission. This process has begun and by the time Lok Sabha and next Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike elections are held, the party will be ready to fight them, it is said.
A few persons who were associated with Upendra both when he set up KPJP and agan when he announced his new party, and who wanted to fight this election, may enter the fray as independent candidates. But Upendra might not campaign for them. Upendra, who has advised his fans and supporters alike not to contest this election, is on a foreign tour along with family members now. He will return after April 24, which happens to be the last day for filing of nomination papers, sources close to the star said.
Political parties including BJP, Congress and JD(S) have been trying to convince Upendra to campaign for their candidates after learning that he will not contest this election. Congress and JD(S) have also been trying to rope in the support of actors like Darshan, Sudeep, and some others in a bid to improve chances of their candidates.
