Mangaluru, Apr 19: CPM candidate from Mangaluru North constituency Muneer Katipalla, filed his nomination here at Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Thursday, April 19.

Before filing the nomination, scores of CPM supporters along with Muneer Katipalla carried out a procession from PVS junction to MCC.

Speaking to the reporters after filing the nomination, Muneer Kaatipalla said, "I am filing my nomination for the first time in my two decade old political career following order from the party. Mangaluru North is named as a communal sensitive area by the Election Commission. This is a black mark on this constituency. So far it has been through communal and money politics has diverted the minds of people from real issues.

“It was said that SEZ will give tremendous job opportunities for 2 lac people. But at present, no jobs are provided for those who have lost their lands in this region. This situation has made youths to involve themselves in drugs, crime and other illegal activities. There has been pollution through industries. Nethravathi and Palguni rivers are polluted as waste water is disposed into it. Saving both the rivers will be our priority.

“There is no community hospital, government school or colleges which is also a concern. We will fight against corruption and also give utmost priority for beedi workers. We will not spend money, instead we believe in people's support,” he said.
