Modi & Rahul
The local leaders and also the state level ones feel that visit by their top leaders will tilt the balance in favour of party candidates. While the BJP plans to hold a public rally under the leadership of Prime Minister, Congress wants to invite Rahul Gandhi to hold road shows. Parties like CPM and SDPI too wish to give a tough fight by inviting their top leaders to coastal Karnataka.
It is said that Narendra Modi's visit to Karnataka coast during the first week of May has already been finalized. The venue, date and time are yet to be worked out, sources said. Rahul Gandhi, who recently took part in Janashirvada Yatra here, it is said, is more interested in visiting nooks and corners of the coast to convince voters instead of addressing huge rallies. Therefore, his places of visit this time will most likely be Beltangady, Sullia, Puttur etc. It is gathered that efforts are on to get Sonia Gandhi too to address people here.
BJP national president, Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, will be the other star campaigners to take part in electioneering on behalf of BJP.
JD(S) state president, Kumaraswamy, has already announced that a huge convention will be held at Nehru Maidan here on behalf of the party. The party is also actively thinking in terms of arranging visits to all the eight constituencies in the twin-districts by both H D Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy to provide fillip to the party's presence and boost chances of the party candidates.
