Mangaluru: MRPL celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti

Mangaluru, Apr 17: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) celebrated 127th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on April 14. On the occasion, M Venkatesh, director (Refinery), Rajeev Kushwah, CVO, senior management personnel and MSSEWA office bearers paid floral tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar in the administration building in the morning.

Later in the evening, Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated in MRPL Employees Club. M Venkatesh, director (Refinery), B H V Prasad, GGM (HR), senior officers of MRPL, office bearers of MRPL SC/ST Employees Welfare Association, employees and their family members were present on the occasion.

Purushothama Dass, state convener of All India confederation of SC/ST organisations, Karnataka unit was the chief guest. He recalled the difficult life situations faced by Dr BR Ambedkar during his time. He stressed a point that if one loves his country then he needs to take care of all his colleagues and fellow citizens. M Venkatesh, director (Refinery), MRPL appealed everyone to take example from Dr Ambedkar’s life and endure to complete any difficult task.

Later cultural programmes were held on the occasion. A dance troupe performed a skit on Dr Ambedkar and a portrait of Dr Ambedkar was painted on the spot during the skit by Shabari, a young speed painter.
