Mangaluru, Apr 16: With the elections approaching, the state government on Monday April 16 on the orders of the Election Commission transferred several IPS officers.
Mangaluru city police commissioner T R Suresh has been replaced by IPS officer Vipul Kumar.
Vipul Kumar is presently serving as inspector general of police (IGP) and director of Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru.

Vipul Kumar, an officer of the 1999 batch, will serve both as Mangaluru city commissioner as well as IGP.
T R Suresh has not yet been given new post.
T R Suresh had taken charge as commissioner of Mangaluru city in June 2017. During his tenure, he was awarded the prestigious President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
