Mangaluru, Apr 14: As many as 19 callers from across the city expressed their concerns during the 78th police phone-in programme at police commissioner's office here on Friday, April 13. Most of the complaints related to parking violations, non-issue of tickets in buses and so on.
A caller from Bikarnakatte complained about vehicles being parked on the roadside near Infant Jesus Church which creates inconvenience to pedestrians and also leads to traffic issues in the area. Police commissioner T R Suresh said, "We will serve notice to vehicle owners for parking in the said area."
A caller from Talapady complained that barricades put up at Talapady check post lead to traffic chaos in the area. The police commissioner justified the act and said that the installation of barricade had helped in reduction of accidents in the area.
On a caller’s request for speed-breakers at Buntara Bhavana road, the police commissioner said that the area would be inspected and if required, speed-breakers would be installed.
A caller from Panjimogaru complained that he had boarded a prepaid auto from Kankanady railway station, but was charged above the meter reading and was issued a receipt for the same. Police commissioner T R Suresh said, "Send us the receipt to our WhatsApp number we will take stringent action against the auto-rickshaw driver.”
A caller from Yedapadav complained that pimps roam near Lady Goschen Hospital and tease girls in the vicinity. Liquor is being sold at a general store and which is supplied through an auto-rickshaw. The police commissioner assured to look in to the matter.
A caller from Kulai complained that police that has been deployed at check post ahead of state elections for checking vehicles focus on two-wheeler riders who do not wear helmets and ignore cars and other vehicles. Police commissioner T R Suresh said, "There is no rule that they have to focus only cars. They can check even the two-wheelers."
DCP Hanumantharaya, DCP Uma Prashanth, ACP Manjunath Shetty and others were present.
Other issues
Private and KSRTC buses going on Kankanady-Pumpwell route do not stop at the bus bay.
Couples behave indecently at Kadri Park. No CCTV or watchman present.
