Mumbai, Aug 30: Governor of Maharashtra S C Jamir today said, that the menace of global warming is real and is going to affect the life on earth. In this connection, he called upon the people, especially the young, to plant more trees so as to reduce the impact of global warming. "If we plant trees today, the future generations will reap the fruits", the governor remarked.

Jamir was addressing the students of SNDT Womens Universityand volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS), after inaugurating theUniversity's Tree Plantation Campaign at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai this morning.

Governor Jamir recalled, that his wife Alemla and he had planted hundreds of trees in their house in Nagaland and later in the Goa RajBhavan too.

Alemla Jamir, vice-chancellor of the SNDT Women's UniversityChandra Krishnamurthy, teachers, students, NSS volunteers and staff of Raj Bhavan later planted several coconut and almond saplings.
