Mangaluru, Apr 12: With less than a month to go for the state elections, one of the most-awaited electoral battles this year, political fights are heating up in Karnataka. With BJP announcing names of candidates for 72 of the 224 constituencies a few days ago, many are curious to know the names of the other candidates contesting for the MLA seats in other constituencies including Mangaluru.
If sources in the BJP circles are to be believed, Capt Brijesh Chowta has been almost finalised as BJP’s candidate for Mangaluru South. He is currently serving as the general secretary of the Dakshina Kannada district BJP.
Completing his graduation from St Aloysius College, and studies in executive business management from Indian Institute of Management, Indore, Capt Chowta is an affable and competent professional with seven years of experience in independent handling of HR, security, operations, administration and logistics in the Indian Army. To top it all, Capt Chowta is BJP’s only candidate in the state from the army background.
Having close ties with RSS is another advantage of Capt Chowta. He is known for hosting and patronising ‘Kambala’, the traditional sport of Dakshina Kannada.
Chowta has worked extensively for BJP during elections in Maharashtra, Delhi and Kerala.
