Mangaluru: Election - IGP holds meeting with top officials from state, Kerala

Mangaluru, Apr 12: A special high level meeting of police officers from the state and Kasargod district was held here on Wednesday April 11. The meeting had been convened with the specific aim of taking stern action and keeping close vigil in order to ensure that no illegal activities are allowed to be conducted during the ensuing assembly election in the state.

The meeting was chaired by western range inspector general of police, Arun Chakravarthy.

The police officers from the state wanted to make sure that no illegal activities from across the state's border are allowed to take place during the election process. Towards this end, in addition to the inspector general of police, Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Ravikanthe Gowda, and city police commissioner, T R Suresh held prolonged discussions with the officials of the department including the ones from Kasargod district. They discussed about the need to tighten security at the state's border check posts and other precautionary measures.

Kasargod district superintendent of police, Simon, and officials of the intelligence wing took part in the meeting. High level officials from railway department and Coast Guard from both the states also participated in the meeting and came up with suggestions and advice.

Sources said that most part of the discussions centred around steps needed to be taken to regulate illegal activities in the border region of both the states.
