Bahrain, Apr 11: Konkani Kutam Bahrain and Konkan Singers Club announce the Bahrain preliminary auditions of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore- Season 6, to be held on Friday the 18 May at the Karnataka Social Club Auditorium from 5.00 pm onwards.
The Gulf Voice of Mangalore competition is open to all Konkani speaking people of Mangalurean origin. Participants should have attained 18 years of age with no upper age limit and should hold a valid Bahrain residence visa. Individuals who fulfill the above requirements are invited to participate.
At the preliminary auditions, six male and six female singers will be selected for the semi-finals to be held on 28 September in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The title holders of the previous five GVOMs are restricted from participating in this season. However the runners-up of all the seasons are allowed to compete for the title this year.
One male and one female finalist from Bahrain will be selected at the Semi finals and they will participate in the “Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 6 Grand Finale to be held in Kuwait on 9 November.
Gulf Voice of Mangalore is the only Konkani singing talent hunt exclusively for the Mangalurean Konkani Singing enthusiasts residing in the Gulf providing an opportunity to showcase their talent. After completing 5 successful seasons across GCC countries, the sixth edition finale will be hosted by Kuwait Canara Welfare Association.

Gulf Voice of Mangalore, Season – 6: Rules & Regulations – Bahrain Preliminary Rounds
1. The Competition is open to all Mangalorean Konkani Singers residing in Bahrain
2. The competition is dedicated to Konkani Songs chosen only from the released Mangalorean original albums (DVD/CD/Cassette).
3. Religious hymns are not allowed. Any song which devalues the moral or any kind of attack on religion, person or country is not permitted and such entry will be disqualified.
4. The interested contestants to participate in the Gulf Voice of Mangalore should submit their applications to the nominated Local organizers of the respective countries in prescribed form along with their passport copies and the valid residence permit copies, as proof of their age and residency.
5. The contestant should be Eighteen (18) years of age on or before the preliminary round competition date.
6. Visit visa holders are not eligible for the competition.
7. The title holders of the previous FIVE GVOM’s will be restricted from participating in this season. The runners-up of the previous five seasons are permitted to compete for the title in this season.
8. Application forms will be available with local coordinators are to be filled and submitted on or before 15 May.
9. The Preliminary Rounds in Bahrain will be held on 18th May 2018 from 5.00pm at the Karnataka Social Club Auditorium.
10. The duration of the song will have no restriction provided the participant sings only one song and not a medley.
11. Only Acoustic / Semi Acoustic guitar shall be allowed during the preliminary rounds. Electronic instruments sequence / minus track are strictly prohibited.
12. All songs should be sung in Konkani and from memory. Referring to lyrics will result in disqualification.
13. The candidates should confirm that they are free of all professional obligations during the competitions and that they will be staying in Bahrain till Season 6 Finale. That they can travel and participate at the Grand Finale in Kuwait on 9th November 2018, if qualified for the Finals . That their Passport and Resident/Work Visa should be valid for a minimum of 6 months as on 09th November 2018.
14. A draw to be taken prior to the competition to determine order of the contestants’ participation in the competition.
15. Bahrain Organizers shall arrange a three member jury of Mangalorean origin with fair knowledge of Konkani Music and Language.
16. Judging Criteria: The Judges will take into account the special characteristics of Song Recital as an artistic partnership between singers and will consider the following:

d. Versatility in Program Expression, General presentation, understanding the Genre 10

17. Judges decision will be final and incontestable.
18. Judges will choose best 6 Male and 6 Female Voices from contestants participating at the Preliminary Rounds. Selected 6 Male and 6 Female voices will contest for a place in the finals at the semi finals on 28 September.
