Bengaluru, Apr 7: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar on Saturday said that all BJP MPs will hold a one-day fast across the country on April 12 to mark a protest against the undemocratic attitude of the Congress that stalled the parliament from functioning in the second half of the budget session.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Saturday after the meeting of the Core Committee of the part, he said Congress President Rahul Gandhi and its former president Sonia Gandhi were responsible for the wash-out of the parliamentary proceedings.
"Congress is intolerable of the huge mandate received by the BJP-led NDA," he claimed.
Having ruled the country for a long time, the Congress is frustrated for having lost power, he said and pointed out that it was the reason for the party not allowing the parliament to function.
The earlier sessions of parliament were fruitful, he said.
But the situation has become worse after Rahul Gandhi took over as the Congress President, the minister said.
Ananth Kumar said 23 days after smaller parties moved the no-confidence motion, the Congress has moved its own no-confidence motion. "By resorting to this kind of politics, the Congress has proved itself that it is also a small party," he claimed.
Even though the government was ready as well as prepared to discuss many issues such as special status to Andhra Pradesh, Cauvery issue, Punjab National Bank scam and other issues, the Congress party has stalled the proceedings, the BJP leader claimed.
He said there is no democratic principles in the DNA of the Congress family. "There is no internal democracy in the Congress party which is undemocratic. Congress party is conspiring to trample democracy," he alleged.
The BJP leader said the NDA members have decided not to take the salary and other perks for 23 days, even though they were present in the parliament.
"All the MPs of the NDA have written to the Accounts Section of the parliament," he said.
He said the people of the country want to know what stance the Congress will take in this regard.
The minister said the BJP has organised "Grama Swarajya Abhiyana" throughout the country from April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar to May 5. All BJP MPs will visit villages with the slogan "Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikaas," he said.
He mentioned that the MPs belonging to NDA will study the extent of implementation of Centre's seven schemes such as Ujwala, Ujaala, Soubhagya, Jandhan, Jeevan Jyothi, Jeevan Suraksha, Mudra and Indra Dhanush.
