Mangaluru Apr 6: The 77th police phone- in programme was held at police commissioner's office on Friday April 6.
Total 18 calls regarding parking, streetlights, high decibel vacuum horns and sale of illegal ganja and other issues were received on Friday.
A caller from Moodbidri complained about removal of tourist and private vehicle parking in the same area. The caller said that when questioned it leads to altercation and also these private vehicles go for a hire. He also questioned about usage of private vehicles for the election purpose. In reply DCP Hanumantharaya said that he would sort out the parking issue. Responding to the usage of private vehicles for election purpose, he said that the transport department provides few private vehicles for this purpose.
A caller from Jyothi complained about street lights being too bright and upsetting on Bavutagudde road, in reply DCP Hanumantharaya said," We will reduce the variation of LED streetlights.”
A caller from Ganapathi Road complained that, as the road that leads to Ganapathi School has been concretized, vehicles are parked on both the sides of the road creating inconvenience to the pedestrians. He also urged the police to allow parking on only one side of the road.
A caller from Pandeshwar complained about usage of high decibel vacuum horns which creates lot of disturbance. DCP Hanumantharaya in reply said, "We cannot remove such horns on spot since they are attached to the brakes. Instead we will send notice to the concerned vehicles or seize them.”
A caller from Suratkal complained about private buses 45 D and 15 D which does not arrive to Kunjathur in the evening.
A caller from Hampanakatta complained about painting work which is underway at Hotel Srinivas on Ganapathi road. He complained that the paint used for walls falls upon the vehicles parked and also on the pedestrians. When asked there would be no response from the concerned people, he complained. In reply DCP Hanumantharaya said that a public notice would be sent to the hotel in this regard.
A caller from Udupi complained that, while he was travelling from Udupi to Karkala, the driver of Amrutheshwara bus was busy talking over phone and driving negligently due to competition with other buses. DCP Hanumantharaya said that he would take stringent action against the driver
A caller from Kulshekar complained about buses honking unnecessarily near Kulshekar to which DCP assured to take action against it.
A caller from Katipalla complained about selling fish in a tempo near the Noorulla School creating inconvenience. He also complained that fish seller even threatens when questioned.
A caller from Suratkal complained about a Kabab shop located near flyover, which dumps waste on the roadside.
A caller from Bondel urged to install sign boards and humps on the Kavoor - Bondel road since vehicles come at high speed.
A caller from Karkala urged to have additional buses to Mangaluru - Karkala via Nitte between 7am to 9:30am.
A caller from Jappinamogaru complained about illegal activities such as consuming ganja on Yekkur - Sooterpete new road.
A caller complained that a KSRTC bus with a register number KA 42 F 2024 has permit for a trip from Central railway station to Bajpe. Though it is supposed to leave from Central Railway station at 10:45am it does not, he complained.
DCP law and order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and traffic Uma Prashanth, Circle inspector Kumaraswamy, Sunil Kumar and others were present.
