Mangaluru, Apr 2: Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza inaugurated 'Kristha Patha', a unique Bharatanatyam repertoire based on Biblical themes of faith, hope and love shown by Jesus Christ himself to mankind, performed with grace and poise by Ruth Prithika Maben here at Town Hall on Sunday, April 1.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza said, "The birth, death and resurrection of Jesus, is the greatest event in the history of mankind, which is being depicted by Ruth Prithika through Bharatanatyam. I would like to congratulate her on 'Kristha Patha'.

"Christianity in India has faced criticism for not being enough ‘Indian’. But today, with Ruth Prithika’s performance, I feel that the critics have been answered to some extent. I also congratulate the parents of Ruth Prithika on encouraging her since the tender age of five. She has been an inspiration for all,” he said.

The repertoire performed by Ruth Prithika was Pushpanjali which is offered to almighty God for his creations, Varnam which depicts the life and mission of Christ, Padam, the story of Jesus and Samaritan woman, Keertanam, the cross which is the greatest gift of Jesus Christ to mankind and Tillana, the resurrection. Ruth mesmerised the audience with her brilliant performance, embodying perfectly the spirit of the festival and the nuances of the traditional form.

Christians are tolerant and very helpful ! Recent past years one particular party is indulging in malign their existence and challenge their patience. Specially with regard to "CONVERSION" if this is the matter the population of christian should have increased like other "particular community" !

Ruth all the best and god bless.

very nice to see the event of Bharathanatyam being performed on the theme of yesu christha
I agree to disagree with His Excellency Bishop that Indian Catholics are less Indian.
In my opinion they are good Indian citizens when it comes to desha prema, doing good to larger society through education, health and i am one of the products of catholic education before setting up my industry overseas. I am really grateful to them.

Christian Youth are very disciplined and committed to their tasks and highly trustworthy.
They make great warriors and leaders in Indian Army,,Navy & Air force besides in civil society.
Very good community to emulate and definitely better Indian.

And i have friends who are catholics who have learned Vedas/Yajnas & some of them are well versed in six indian philosphies, even i cannot recite certain vedic mantras, where as some of them have attained much greater awareness, one of my catholic friend used to say ....That he is a Hindu in tradition and catholic in practice and has respect for Indian/Hindu culture and practices, this broad mindedness is the need of the hour in Today's India.
