Hubballi, Mar 31: BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Prahlad Joshi has been booked for allegedly making derogatory and provocative remarks against the Muslim community.
During his visit to Sadarsofa in Hubballi on March 25, Joshi had reportedly said that Sadarsofa had become a 'mini Pakistan' and that 'weapons were being stored in the local mosque'.
Following the remarks, a local named Mohammed Hanif filed a complaint at Kasba police station.
The complainant has accused Joshi of making an provocative statement against Muslims with an intention to incite communal tension.
Joshi reportedly made this statement while he was the house of Guru Sidappa, a resident of Hubballi who was murdered this month by unknown miscreants.
Joshi has been booked under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between religious groups) and 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of the IPC including other sections.
The complaint comes days after Joshi was in the news for wrongly translating BJP national president Amit Shah's speech into Kannada in Davangere, wherein he mistakenly said PM Modi was not doing anything for Dalits and was destroying the nation.
