Mysuru, Mar 31: A royal battle is going to take place soon if fresh reports are to be believed. Varuna constituency here, presently represented by chief minister Siddaramaiah in the Legislative Assembly, is likely to see a clash between the sons of the state's two most prominent politicians.
While the Congress is most likely to give the ticket to Siddaramaih’s son Dr Yathindra in Varuna, the BJP is seriously mulling over fielding former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa's son B Y Vijayendra from Varuna.
Siddaramaiah has represented Varuna constituency since 2008. He recently announced that he will be contesting from neighbouring Chamundeshwari.

The BJP is confident that the large number of Lingayats, to which Vijayendra belongs, in the Varuna constituency, can turn the tide in his favour.
Members of the BJP unit of the Varuna Assembly segment, on Friday March 30, submitted a memorandum to BJP president Amit Shah to field Vijayendra from there.
The memorandum states that BJP has developed at the grassroots level in the Varuna Assembly segment. “Out of seven Zilla Panchayat seats under Varuna constituency, BJP has won four. Also, out of 26 taluk panchayat seats 12 members are from the BJP. Vijayendra is an appropriate candidate and can take Dr Yathindra head on,” the memorandum says.
Incidentally, Vijayendra, a businessman, and Dr Yathindra, a medical doctor, are both political novices.
