Bengaluru Mar 29: It is a big blow for ruling party Congress in the state. Six-time MLA from Congress Malikkaiah Guttedar on Thursday, March 29, decided to quit the party and join the BJP.
Guttedar represents Afzalpur constituency in Kalaburagi district. It is believed that Guttedar is upset with the party for neglecting him. In spite of being six-time MLA, he was not in the Cabinet.
Guttedar hit out at senior Congress leader and MP Mallikarjun Kharge and his son state minister Priyank Kharge, accusing them of conspiring to finish his political career.
Guttedar, who met BJP State president B S Yeddyurappa at his residence at Dollars' Colony in Bengaluru, said he will soon resign as MLA and formally join the BJP.
