Bengaluru, Mar 27: JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda has taken serious offence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s comments, especially dubbing the Janata Dal (Secular) as the ‘Janata Dal Sangh Parivar’ during his visit recently.
On Monday, Gowda in a press meet termed Rahul as ‘naïve’ and ‘immature’ and warned him to be ‘careful’ and added that he shall not tolerate irresponsible statements.
Mocking Rahul for questioning his credentials, he advised the Congress chief to understand the political realities of his party in Karnataka. “You are not aware of the events of the past. You need to first understand which Congress is there in Karnataka - Indira Gandhi Congress, Sonia Gandhi Congress or Siddaramaiah Congress,” he said.
He ridiculed Rahul for reading out accusations from a ‘chit of paper’ which was written by somebody else. If Rahul was mature enough, he would have understood the realities, he said.
Gowda also termed Congress as an ‘opportunist party’. He accused Sonia Gandhi of betraying him. “When the opposition had called Sonia Gandhi as an outsider, I had endorsed her for the prime minister’s post. But when I was the prime minister, she withdrew support which was ungracious and ungrateful,” he said.
He also questioned on why Congress withdrew support, while he had a clean profile when compared to Siddaramaiah, who has been accused of corruption.
“If the JD(S) fails in the forthcoming elections, then we shall happily be the opposition instead of forging ties with Congress or the BJP,” he asserted.
