Mangaluru, Mar 15: KPCC secretary Devi Prasad Shetty slammed BJP leaders and said that they are trying to foment religious sentiments as they are in fear of losing the forthcoming elections.
Addressing media at Congress office here recently, Devi Prasad Shetty said, "BJP leaders are not able to bear the achievements of Siddaramaiah led state government and so are trying to foment religious sentiments as their strategy to face the upcoming elections. Recently Mohiuddin Bava was alleged to have distorted an Ayyappa Swamy devotional song for his publicity campaign and even apologise for hurting religious sentiments. But the BJP is politicising this issue to disturb peace and harmony. Some miscreants created the song and we have called for an investigation into this matter. Even BJP had created Tirupathi song by changing its lyrics and no one made it a big issue. But now unnecessarily they are blwoing this issue out of proportion. If this continues, we will stage a protest.
"MLA Mohiuddin Bava is always into development work without any bias of religion. He never budged to any criticism and worked for people and the development of the society.
“Whenever the election is near, BJP’s affection towards Hindus increases. BJP talk about beef ban, then why cannot they ban beef exported from Goa when BJP is ruling there? During the five year tenure of BJP, they did everything as even the chief minister had been to jail,” he said.
Congress leaders Krishna Amin, Surendra and others were present.
