Kalaburagi: Congress will pay price for dividing our religion - Rambhapuri Peetha seer

Kalaburagi, Mar 10 (DHNS): Rambhapuri Peetha seer Virasomeshwara Shivacharya Swami on Saturday called upon voters to teach a lesson to politicians dividing Veerashaiva-Lingayat religion.

"We will move the court if our religion is divided. Seers of all Maths will fight against efforts by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to divide our religion. The Congress party will have to pay a heavy price if it divides Veerashaivas from Lingayats when the Assembly elections are around the corner," he told reporters.

The seer added: "No chief minister has ever intervened in religious matters so far in the state. It is improper on part of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to poke his nose in the religious matter."

The seven-member expert committee constituted by the State government to examine the demand for a separate religion tag for the Lingayats had sought six months to submit its report. However, the chief minister and a few of his cabinet colleagues put pressure on the committee and got the report in a hurry, he charged.

"The term Veerashaiva denotes a theory, while Lingayat a practice. Therefore, the state government should consider Veerashaiva-Lingayat as an independent religion. It should never recommend the status of independent religion to Lingayats," he urged.

Answering a question, he said: "Lingayats are a majority and the move to include them in the list of minorities is wrong. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is in dilemma over according the status of independent religion to the Lingayats."

"Seers of all Maths will fight against efforts by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to divide our religion," he warned.

All religious leaders have plenty of opportunity to serve and help poor and needy people. I can't understand why these guys are using all excuses to enter politics. Leaders of all religions have made money using religion as a source of income with educational institutions, hospitals but have not helped any poor persons from their own religion. If we don't support this kind of behaviour we will end up like Iran. Initially people supported Religious leaders and they took control of the country but now people want to get out of their hands but they won't let them.

As a Brahmin Seer would support BJP as BJP is a political party by Brahmins and for Brahmins and high caste Hindus.

People in Karnataka in particular and in India, in general, have to remember that it was neither Muslims nor Christians who stopped other Hindus entering the temples. If anyone stopped common people from entering temples were Brahmins.

Congress has not divided people, instead is moving forward along with common people of all caste and creed.

Basavanna spent ten years with his Guru in Kudala Sangama. He was a youth of 18 years age. He had completed study of Vedas, Puranas, Shastras etc. He had thorough knowledge of Sanskrit and Kannada languages. He was disgusted to see ill-culture in the name of God and felt pity for the illiterate innocent non-Brahmins being deceived in the name of God. Brahmins though literate were committing the same sins like ill-literate non-Brahmins by offering goat as sacrificial animal. Basavanna decided to reform the society to bring an end to such violence. Superstitions should be eliminated. Division of the society on the base of castes is injustice. He had several such ideas in his mind. To achieve his goal he had decided to remain bachelor.
The sanatan (ancient) Hindu religion is based on Karma Doctrine and sanctions Varnashram System i.e. caste system dividing the society into four groups, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaisya and Shudra. Brahmins ware considered high born and Shudras as low born. It corrupts human springs. It does not speak with one voice to all human beings. Basavanna overruled caste system. His Bhakti Doctrine denounces the notion of high born and low born; all are equal enjoying equal religious rights.
Till then, area of activity of women was restricted to kitchen and bed-room. Women were treated as personal slaves in every family. Even in that dim age, Basavanna advocated for equal social and religious right for women. Basavanna eliminated blind beliefs and superstitions. He disliked exploitation of uneducated low born innocent people by educated high born Brahmins under the pretext of meaningless religious rituals. Basavanna denounced penance or atrocious ordeals to body to obtain grace of God. Only zealous devotion can lead to the grace of God.
Basavanna’s concept was, God is impersonal and supernatural power. God is as large as universe. His size can not be measured even in terms of light-years.
How does Congress responsible for Basava Vachana?

I think he was living in that era with basavanna
Here is contradictory statements "Hindu division is based upon "Varna" and not cast
Then where is the question of high born or low born Varna is based on one's duty/ork and nothing to do with birth
Half knowledge is dangerous than no knowledge

Sir, Basavana is reformer in Hinduism who has profound knowledge in depth. He wanted to eradicate the untouchability of Brahminism meted to fellow Hindus in the name of casteism.
The Basavana religion is revolution which don't have same belief like Hinduism. The late Gauri Lankesh in her last article celebrated this subject for which paid the price.
'Lingayat' in practice who are dominate in Karnataka are separate worshiping than Hinduism.
Please read the 'Basava Vachana' in its original context and help to increase your knowledge.

Rambhapuri Peeta Seer is planning to stand for election. This is his main goal. He has no achievements with the general public. He has not built a single house for the poorest of the poor nor has he done any charitable work in the name of God.

Talking of Religion which he has mentioned, I must contradict him to say that Hinduism is not a religion but only a way of life. He probably doesn't know it. PM Narendra Modi too has reiterated this in his speech in Vancouver, Canada. One can check this on the internet.

I dont understand why these Seer's venture into politics. There is an old saying " politics is the last resort of a scoundrel". These people can do good service to humanity by just sitting and praying for the poor and the downtrodden and giving them alms.

Bad move...Congress. Till we fight in the name of religion our country will never prosper. On one side BJP is growing in the name of Hindu. On the other hand, In karnataka Siddu is playing his own cards. Even though i don't understand the logic behind creating division between Veerashaiva and Lingayat.. i strongly feel its none of its business to get into religious issues.

According to some social media reports Congress has hired an American Data Mining and Election advising Company called Cambridge Analytica to make election winning a success
Many advises that Cambridge Analytica gave were successful in Gujarat Elections and thus Congress could come very close to BJP .If NaMo would not have campaigned vigorously Congress could have even won
Now this breaking Lingayat and trying to capture their votes appear to be a Cambridge Analytica advise which Congress thinks will win them elections because during 2013 elections BSY s Lingayat votes splitting into KJP was the main reason for Congress win which Congress wants to repeat now
But many times plans will boomerang .Lets see wait and watch

Kamath, I agree that the congress might think of using Cambridge Analytica , But for Karnataka elections it is a no brainer. they wont even need their services for Karnataka elections. Siddhus Leadership & his achievements speak for themselves. He has ruled with an iron grip . You see development in his tenure. The past performance from the erstwhile B.J.P Govt will be a huge deterrent for the people of Karnataka to vote for B.J.P.. Imagine a chief Minister Yedyurappa who is a jail bird, He floated his own party, spoke against B.J.P & shamelessly came back to B.J.P & they had 3 chief ministers in their tenure who were clueless what to do & the mining Barons who threw Money & won elections. The comedy circus came to a full stop with a thumping Majority to Congress. Victory was handed over to Congress on a silver platter . So congress does not need to divide vote on religious tones .
