Mangaluru, Mar 9: “Moodbidri Alva's educational institute on being awarded Kreeda Poshak award, Ekalavya awards bagged by two sports persons of the institute and three sports persons awarded Karnataka Kreeda Ratna awards in the awards ceremony for national and international sports achievers held by the department of Karnataka state youth empowerment and sports has made us proud,” said Alva's educational foundation president Dr M Mohan Alva at a news conference.
“Alva's education foundation who gave shelter to sportspersons in the state in 1984 by forming Ekalavya sports organization, provided free education to thousands of sportspersons through Alva's educational institute and nurtured achievements on national and international scale is felicitated with Kreeda Poshak award.

“Harshit S a student of Alva's educational institute is holding the national junior level record at present. He has represented the country in world junior and Asian junior sports tournaments in 2012 and has secured 'Ekalavya' award. Alva's old student, present Vijaya bank employee, Sukesh Hegde has presented shining performance as international Kabaddi player and has received Akalavya award. Alva's student, K J Yashaswini, has received gold medals in national senior, federation cup and all India university level and is awarded Kreeda Ratna award. Alva's old student Sugun Sagar has received sports award for his national level achievement at Mallakamba.
"Mamata Keloji international wrestler from the institute and Aishwarya national Kabaddi player have been presented Rs 2.5 lac each, Mahalaxmi Siddi and Arpana Siddi national wrestlers, Rakshit Poojary national Kabaddi player and Rachana national sportsperson are awarded Rs 1.5 lac each,” said Mohan Alva.
