Mangaluru: Social work students of SAC hold workshop at Mudipu

Mangaluru, Mar 6: The social work (MSW) students of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) in collaboration with Balepuni grama panchayat, social work students of Mangaluru University and Janashikshana Seva trust, Mudipu conducted a workshop on sanitation and plastic waste management under the theme ‘Swachhatheye Sanksriti, Swachhatheye Sammruddhi’ recently at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhuvan, Balepuni.

N Sheena Shetty, the co-founder of Janashikshana Seva trust, Mudipu and ambassador of cleanliness of Dakshina Kannada district was the resource person of the programme. Speaking on the occasion N Sheena Shetty said, "Burning and littering plastic is an offense". She convinced the people of Balepuni to build a habit of recycling and reuse plastic and to strive to get recognition to the community as 'Plastic free Community'.



Haidar Kairangala, taluk panchayat member, was the chief guest of the programme. He appreciated the initiatives of the social work students.

The programme was presided by Leelavathi, president of Balepuni grama panchayat. Mr.Krishna Moolya,co-founder of Janashikshana Seva Trust, Nagesh Devadiga, PDO of Balepuni gram panchayat, members of Balepuni gram panchayat and others took part in the programme.
