Kasargod, Mar 3: Kumble police, in an operation, have seized a large amount of ganja and arrested four accused. Ganja worth 16.5 kg, a car and an auto rickshaw were seized in the operation.
The arrested are identified as Kumble Shantipalla resident Rashid (31), Pookattedande resident Lathif (31) Uppala resident Moideen Nawaz (21) and Mushtaq Ahmed (31).
A policeman was injured while the accused tried to flee. Police who received definite clues on Thursday March 1 intercepted the bike, took Rashid into custody and recovered half kilo of ganja from him. He confessed while questioning that he had sold ganja to Dandegoli resident Lathif. The police, who went after Lathif, recovered two kilos of ganja and seized the auto in which Lathif was travelling.
Encouraged by earlier arrests, the police also intercepted and arrested Nawaz and Mushtaq Ahmed, who were travelling in an Alto car and confiscated 12 kg of ganja from them.
Police are questioning the arrested suspects and have come to know that the suspects are leading in the network of ganja peddlers.
