Udupi, Feb 24: Gopikrishna Rao, president of Canara co-operative Association (R), Udupi district and B Jayakar Shetty Indrali, chief secretary of the association met Amit Shah, national president of BJP and submitted an appeal on behalf of co-operative associations of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi to look into the refusal of officials of income tax department to give rebate on the income on the business made by the Karnataka state, that should be judicially available under the income tax act section 80P, and also rebate on the interest generated on the investment made by co-operative societies in co-operative banks and commercial banks. This is refused by the income tax officials in spite of the high court judgment passed in this regard.
Copy of the appeal was submitted to B S Yeddyurappa, state president of BJP.
Amit Shah promised to send the appeal immediately to the finance department and also assured to ask the concerned to look into the issue and resolve the same.
Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde and Kidiyoor Uday Kumar Shetty were present on the occasion.
