Hosapete, Feb 11: Independent MLA from Kudligi assembly constituency B Nagendra joined the Congress party on day two of Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s tour of poll-bound Karnataka at Hosapete in Ballari district on Sunday.
Nagendra, who joined the ruling Congress party in the State, was accompanied by BJP MLA from Vijayanagar constituency B S Anand Singh, who also embraced the Congress party.
Nagendra presented a Rs 60 lakh worth gold plated Valmiki statue to the Congress president.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara, AICC General Secretary and State party in charge K C Venugopal and senior State Congress leaders and ministers accompanied Rajul Gandhi.
The Congress President, who is touring the State for the first time after his election as party chief, conducted roadshows at Yelburgta and Kushtagi towns in Koppal district in the morning on Sunday.
Rahul Gandhi paid his homage to Kittur Rani Channamma’s statue by offering flowers at Yelburga in Koppal district.
