Mangaluru, Feb 10: The sixth additional district and sessions court here has granted conditional anticipatory bail to BJP leader and MLA of Karkala Sunil Kumar in the case relating to the speech made by him allegedly provocating communal and religious sentiments.
During the BJP Padayatra programme on January 23 at Kalladka in Bantwal, Sunil Kumar had said, "The election here is not between Rajesh Naik and Ramanath Rai; it is an election between Allah and Ram. Who Bantwal wants, it has to be decided. Whether we will repeatedly make Allah win or will we make a person who loves Ram win, people of Bantwal have to decide."
Prashant Kulal, an activist of Congress, had filed a case in this regard in Bantwal police station stating that this speech was made with the intention of provoking religious sentiments. The court which conducted an inquiry granted conditional anticipatory bail to the MLA.
The court put the condition that the MLA not make any provocative speech that hurts the religious sentiments of people.
