Mangaluru, Feb 9: The anticipatory bail plea filed by JD(S) leader and Tulu movie producer, Dhanraj, was dismissed by the sixth additional district court here on Thursday February 8. Dhanraj is facing a case filed by a woman who has accused him of raping her by promising to marry her and then cheating and defrauding her.
The woman says that she had approached Dhanraj 14 years back seeking help. "He promised to procure a job for me, led me to a hotel at Bengaluru, gave me juice mixed with intoxicants and raped me thereafter. Even after this incident, he repeated his promises of getting me a job and of marrying me and raped me in inspection bungalow at Kadri in the city and some other hotels here. He did not marry me even thereafter. He also extended the lure of getting opportunity for acting in Tulu films to several other girls and sexually exploited them," the woman had said in a complaint she had filed at the women's police station here some time back.
The woman says that the accused, who came to know about her complaint, illegally entered her flat when she was alone and warned her to withdraw the case she had filed. She says that he also posed her death threat and raped her again.
After this complaint was filed at the women's police station, Dhanraj had moved anticipatory bail application, but the judge of the sixth additional district and sessions court, D T Puttarangaswamy, taking into account the seriousness of the case, passed an order dismissing the bail plea.
