Bantwal, Feb 8: After a car deviated from its course and hit a mother-child duo before crashing into several two-wheelers parked by the roadside, a three-year-old child suffered serious injuries and succumbed to injuries at a hospital at Mangaluru. The accident happened at Moorje within Pilatabettu village in the taluk on the night of Tuesday February 6.
The child which lost its life in this unfortunate incident was Vaishavi (3), daughter of Lohitaksha from Vamajur, Mangaluru.
Lohitaksha's wife, Prameela (26), had been to Moorje for attending a baby shower function organized at the house of a relative at Mannur near Moorje. When she was waiting by the roadside at Moorje to go to Mannur, a Nano car which came from the direction of Kavalakatte hit the mother-daughter duo and then knocked down several two-wheelers parked by the roadside. Both of them suffered serious injuries and were shifted to a private hospital at Mangaluru.
On the basis of complaint filed by Suresh from Mannur, Punjalkatte police registered the case. Car driver, Moideen Saheb from Punjalkatte stands arrested.
