Mangaluru: Yenepoya Dental College NSS extends oral healthcare to Anjumal Masakin Orphanage

Mangaluru, Feb 7: The NSS unit of YDC (Yenepoya Dental College) and Department Of Public Health Dentistry as well as Department Of Pedodontics YDC, joined together for a nobel cause to deliver comprehensive oral healthcare to the orphanage children of Anjumal Masakin.

In a formal way, the centre was adopted on February 3 by president Haji B A Abdul Rasheed of Anjuman Masakin who delivered the inaugural address and chief guest Dr B H Sripathi Rao principal Yenepoya Dental College stressed on the need to adopt such centers for overall development of the underserved community.



The vice principal Dr Sham S Bhat also stressed on the importance of oral health to the students. The presidential address was given by the registrar of Yenepoya University Dr G Shree Kumar Menon who said that the university is taking all the necessary steps to reach out to the unreached in the community.

Dr Rekha Shenoy HOD department of Public Health Dentistry delivered the vote of thanks. NSS programme Officer Dr Imran Pasha M and Bharath Camp co-ordinator Moosabba were also present at the programme.

The programme was part of the school Oral Health Programme initiated under the NSS YDC unit in association with Deprtment of Public Health Dentistry and Pedodontics. The entire school health programme consisting of the school based Pit and Fissure Sealant Programme was initiated by HOD D Rekha Shenoy, school based Fluoride Application vice principal Yenepoya Dental College and comprehensive oral health check up initiated by Dr B H Sripathi Rao.

Oral Health Awareness programme will also be conducted by the NSS volunteers of Yenepoya Dental College.
