Mangaluru, Feb 3: The city crime branch (CCB) police on Saturday February 3 thwarted a crime and arrested four persons including a rowdy-sheeter who were hatching a conspiracy to commit a murder as well as robbery. The police also recovered three weapons and ganja from them.
The accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar (33), Prasad alias Pacchu (28), Shravan (22) and Sujith (27). While Manoj and Sujith are residents of Thokkottu, the other two are from Mogaveerapatna in Ullal.
They were arrested near Chitrapu, Mulki where they were planning to commit murder and robbery, police said.
Based on credible information that 9 or 10 persons were in a Tata Sumo vehicle at Chitrapu hatching a conspiracy to commit a murder in the vicinity of Falnir, the CCB police raided the spot and arrested the four.
A machete, an axe, knives, 40 grams of ganja and three mobile phones were confiscated from the accused. The total value of the seized items, including the Tata Sumo car, is estimated at Rs 1.90 lac.
Hunt is on to nab the others who are suspected to be involved in hatching the murder conspiracy.
The accused and the seized items have been handed over to Mangaluru South police for further investigations.
Among the four arrested, Prasad is a rowdy-sheeter who is accused in two assault cases in Ullal police station, and a murder and three attempts-to-murder in Mangaluru north police limits.
Shravan and Manoj are each accused in one attempt-to-murder case in Ullal police station.
