Kundapur, Jan 31: "I will join BJP on February 2 at 4 pm at the party's office in Bengaluru in a simple ceremony," announced Halady Srinivas Shetty, now 'former' MLA of Kundapur.
Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, January 31 at his residence in Halady, he said, "I met speaker Koliwad on Tuesday, January 30 at Ranebennur and tendered my resignation. He accepted it on the spot. The technical issue which I had in joining BJP is resolved now. I will be joining BJP on February 2 at 4 pm."
Responding to a query on his next plan of action, he said, "I am joining BJP as a general worker of the party. I will fulfill whatever responsibility is given to me by the party to the best of my ability."
When questioned on the indifferences amongst the BJP cadres in Kundapur, he expressed lament saying, "I am not responsible for the internal conflict existing in Kundapur BJP. I do not have the ability to resolve the issue that exists in the party. The state leaders have to find an amicable solution for the issue. During the tenure of Dr V S Acharya, there was no disunity among the party workers in this district. Only after his death, this revolt culture started."
With regard to the posts on social media against him, he said, "It is left to the party to decide. Senior leaders of the party will take action against such people."
When journalists brought to Halady's notice the criticism that 'Halady is an MLA with zero achievement' made by Janardhan Tonse, district president of Congress, the former MLA counter replied, "Show me how my achievements are zero.
"Several developmental works have taken place in my constituency. Ninety percent of the main roads are repaired. Basic infrastructure requried for the schools and colleges has been provided. How come, in spite of these works, my achievement is zero? Zero means no development at all," he added.
