Moodbidri student death: Parents express suspicions of foul play

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 27: The parents of Rachana, a student of second PU at Alva's College, Moodbidri who allegedly committed suicide, have expressed suspicions of foul play.

Rachana, a native of Chitradurga, allegedly jumped off the fifth floor of a classroom in the college on Thursday January 25. She left behind a death note, and it was said that poor marks in exams and her health condition had led her to take the extreme step.

However, her parents have alleged foul play in her death. Her father Manjunath has filed a complaint in Moodbidri police station alleging the negligence of the administrative board as the reason for this daughter's death.

The parents also claimed that the handwriting in the death note was not their daughter's. The police have decided to send the letter to a graphologist for analysis and investigation.

"If indeed Rachana had jumped off the college building, there should have been serious wounds on her body, but there were none," said her mother.

Moodbidri police have registered the case and further investigations are on.

With mounting population and scarce job opportunities, parents push children into scoring more marks and into areas which they r least interested. Time we did something about rising population, a subject which no politicians want to discuss. The only intellectual who taught deep into this aspect was smt. Indira Gandhi

Just To take it in a Psychological angel ....i read somewhere in Psychology they call it ....MASS HYSTERIA ...
Meaning : Spontaneous, en masse development of identical physical or emotional symptoms among a group of individuals, as in a classroom of schoolchildren...

Vivek Hirebyle/Abudhabi, Mass hystery happens not as you wrote but so.Suppose when lot of people are gathered in a place and all of a sudden something goes wrong ,like a sitting raw breaks in a football stadium ,or a bomb explodes ,people get anxious and run out out of fear,in a group without thinking what will happen to otheryour next ,just rushout pushing and runover a person fallen under your foot in a hystery to save yourself. Many die i such cases with injury caused by group of people ,by pushing suffocating or falling under group of people. But here this girl didn t die out of such hystery but due to "fall" from higher place as they said.quite possible she was pushed?from fifth floor after killing or placed there without anybodys notice.Hope the truth will come out.RIP.

Rita, what u r talking about is 'STAMPEDE' caused by panic, in a jam packed crowded place, to save one's life!!!
Whereas mass hysteria is "a spontaneous, en masse development of identical physical and/or emotional symptoms among a group of people, as seen in a classroom of schoolchildren"

Rita ...shall i give you one example ....Dr Ashok pai wrote a book on psychology and he mentioned once he was called by a prestigious college to attend a concern as some young girls on after other collapses and act as if Demon inside them it repeated for Month ....with through examination and even hypnotism he found out one lecturer misbehaving with girls and asking for sexual favor... the truth came out and he mentioned it is act of Mass hysteria ....similarly i am not blaming girls here as physiologically ill but some concern making them to take their predecessors step......

Govt is telling care for a girl child.

What measures Govt. is taking to protect a girl child. Everywhere rape cases, harasement and so on.

Govt should take measures to protect girl child. If such cases happen Govt should take action especially poor and illiterate girls.

She studied till P U C why she committed now. Poor girl gone for her parents.

Will at least now the authorities wake up and investigate why so many deaths occur only in Alva's? It is better if they start investigating the previous suicide cases too. Poor parents send their children sacrificing their life term earnings only to get the dead bodies of their children in return. Enough is enough. We need to put an end to these deaths.

I am neither defending Alvas nor blaming the girl. I am an elderly person who has spent several years in Gulf, I have met & known more than dozen girls who are presently working in Gulf hailing from different communities of Dakishna Kannanda. None of them have ever spoken anything bad about Alvas, on the other hand , they were really indebted to Alvas for subsidising their tution fees and hostel charges, without these consession they would not have compleyed their degree courses, which has now enabled to get a high paying jobs in Gulf
