Mangaluru: Three vehicles damaged in serial accident near Jyothi Circle, no causalities

Mangaluru, Jan 27: A serial accident involving three vehicles took place near Jyothi (Ambedkar) Circle on Saturday, January 27.

The accident which took place at 8 am saw a Kerala KSRTC bus, a Kerala-registered Alto car and a tourist bus collide with each other. The KSRTC bus and the Alto car were coming from Pumpwell while the tourist bus was moving towards State Bank.

As per eye witnesses, in a bid to avoid hitting a person crossing the road, the driver of the KSRTC bus applied sudden brake, which led to the collision. The car hit the bus in the rear end, while the tourist bus hit the car.

The traffic was affected for about 15-20 minutes. Traffic police cleared the road. A case stands registered at Kadri police station.

    Stop blaming each other’s faults people n whats wrong wit you all? Be grateful that ntg much happened. And as per my concern I would say that its not Ksrtc bus drivers mistake rather the mistake of the one who suddenly decides to cross the road. People shud be aware of traffic rules so that in future these mistakes won’t happen. Awareness program on this has to be done! Thank you.

    Ban these KL-14 entering Mangalore.. Everything will be fine.

    My challenge to the readers. Go to any private or Govt hospital at midnight with maybe a flu, cough or in need of a first aid. Then look at the service they will provide you. And then comment here.

    They are literally stealing Mangalorean jobs in every sector.
    We need to boycott this. We need to take it very seriously...

    KSRTC buses of Karnataka and Kerala registration is the biggest menace in the city.They do not have driving sense and behave as if they are the kings on the road.As for as their attitudes are concerned they are rude and rough drivers and use filthy and abusive language.
    Besides,improper Zebra crossings,lack of footpaths for the pedestrians,non adherence to the traffic rule by the drivers,hurry in crossing the roads in the middle of the road without applying their common sense,by the pedestrians,inactive signal lights at key points etc are the root cause for all these kind of accidents.In fact I observed there is no smooth flow of traffic due to many factors.Only after addressing most of the major burning issues already existing, in the city by the concerned departments,authorities one can expect smooth , steady and hassle free traffic in the city.Until that period,these kind of incidences are common and keep on continuing,.

    Our pedestrians are in a hurry to cross the road when traffic movement is there. they cross the road in a helter-skelter way that too in the middle of the Circle. The traffic police should stop such movements.

    This junction becomes quite dangerous in the early hours hence the authorities should build flattened long hump on roads approaching from Collectors Gate, Lighthouse Hill and Bunts Hostel. If not three, atleast one on road approaching from Collector's Gate.

    This shows the urgency of crossing main road while heavy traffic is ON. People should understand how difficult it is to stop a moving bus in traffic. Have little patience and cross roads only near ZEBRA cross not in the half of the road while vehicles are moving .... And no doubt, Kerala Bus drivers are very cautious in driving and maintainig traffic rules.... but at the same time they maintain equal distance between vehicle ahead and reach in time.... their bus is also well maintained with good servicing...

    It is the URGENCY and SPEED of vehicles to reach their destination which causes these type of accidents.

    Always keep safe distance between vehicles while driving'. If you HIT a vehicle in FRONT of you, it is deemed to be YOUR fault for not keeping the safe distance from the front vehicle. In this case, the Car and the second bus are at fault!

    Well about pedestrians,that's another question! They should be given FIRST preference to cross. Nobody stops for them to cross which should be INCULCATED and taught before issuing /renewing licence and on the other side,, the pedestrian should also use their judgement when and where to cross ,which they seldom use.....

    Non of the circle is safe in Mangalore. 24 hrs signal lights must keep on. CC camara must watch signal light jumpers. Traffic Police must take action.

    So when we will have overbridge ( steel structure) as pedestrian crossing? We don't have a single Pedestrian crossing till now . They are prominently required at Hampankatta, Kankanady, Bendoorwell, Pumpwell,Nanthoor, Jyothi and also in Airport Road. The readymade Steel pedestrian bridges are cheaper and can be installed in a week's time without obstructing traffic daily. Authorities wake up !!!!!!!. These are the basic facilities the government should provide for its citizens. Also had to be done before doing big fountain and kids rail project at Kadri park.
