Mangaluru, Jan 27: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Janardhan Poojary on Friday January 26 released his much anticipated autobiography, titled 'Sala Melada Sangarama'.
Prior to the release, Poojary place the book in front of the deity and performed 'Samprokshane' ritual, taking rounds of the Kudroli temple premises with the book on his head.
Releasing the book himself, Poojary said that while the actual price of the book is Rs 300 in the market, it would be sold at Rs 50 on the launch day so that those at the venue could buy a copy.
When district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai came to the dais, Poojary appreciated him, saying, "Ramanath Rai has initiated several development works. May God bless him to undertake more works."
He also said that there were several more points to be added to the autobiography, and a revised edition would be released at the Press Club soon.
Minister for food and civil supplies U T Khader announced that he would buy 500 copies of the book to distribute in school and college libraries in hi Ullal constituency.
Poojary's friend Sadnanda Shetty, Laxman Kodse who assisted in the publication of his book were felicitated. His sister's daughter Pooja and her husband Chandrahas were also felicitated.
Harikrishna Bantwal and his wife, page designer Chandappa, temple development committee Urmila Ramesh Kumar, former ZP president Mamatha Gatty, Preetika who served in the Kudroli temple, Leelaksha of Namma Kudla, and Karunakar Shetty were also felicitated.
Mayor Kavita Sanil, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, J R Lobo, Harikrishna Bantwal, Capt Ganesh Karnik were present.
As many as 1000 copies of the book were kept on sale. The next such sale will be during Shivaratri, Poojary said.
