Panaji, Jul 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has charged state government of having opaque stand towards the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state.
"Digamber Kamat led government's stand against SEZ is opaque. It does not have any foothold," leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar commented.
The state BJP legislature party has geared up to put the state government on the mat on various issues prominent being the SEZs during the ensuing state legislative assembly session.
Goa monsoon session will begin from August 18.
Goa government has already scrapped 12 SEZs while has recommended denotification of three. The union commerce ministry has taken a firm stand on these industrial enclaves asking the state government to sort out the issues with the SEZ promoters.
The state government-run Industrial Development Corporation has already issued show-cause notices to the seven SEZ promoters on revocation of lands allotted to them.
These notices are challenged in the court and matter is sub-judice.
"The IDC issues notices without seeking legal opinion. This is being done to cover up the roots of land allotment scam," Parrikar said.
The leader of opposition accused the state government of adopting stand against SEZs without any legal backings.
"They want to allow SEZs through backdoor," he alleged.
