Udupi, Jan 9: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Tuesday, January 9, condemned Kollur temple for providing food for the people who had gathered at Congress 'Sadhana Samavesha' organized during the visit of the chief minister on January 8 in Byndoor Assembly constituency.

Addressing a press meet here, district president of VHP Vilas Nayak said, "How did the temple management agree to supply food for the government programme? During three days of Dharma Sansad organized by VHP and Bajrang Dal, we had requested the temple management to cater food for thousands of seers and saints who came from across the nation. But they refused. Hundreds of chefs were appointed overnight to prepare food for the government programme on January 7. Kollur temple people did not cooperate with us during Dharma Sansad.

"The state government is involved in this. They must have advised the temple authorities against providing us food for the religious programme," he alleged.

"The Congress government also cancelled midday meals to Shree Rama Vidya Kendra to which food is supplied from Kollur temple. Chief minister Siddaramaiah played politics in providing midday meal to that school. He must take a look at the students. Such cases are taking place repeatedly in the state which shows the CM’s anti-Hindu policy.

"We came to know about the donation of Rs one lac that CM had remitted to Kollur temple to meet the expenses. The police department has to conduct a detailed investigation and the CM should give clarification on that amount.

"It was not 'Sadhana Samavesha’, but a Congress based programme. Congress’ flags were put up all around the city. Dharma Sansad was a huge programme and a center of attraction for all other states. But Kollur temple management refused to provide us food," said Vilas Nayak.

Answering a query he said, "BJP flags were never put up during the Dharma Sansad. Even political leaders at the programme did not speak about politics. The food to the programme was supplied by Sri Krishna Math.

"'Sadhana Samavesha’ should have been a government programme, but it looked like a Congress (party) oriented programme," he said.

On allegations of district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj not being invited to Dharma Sansad, Vilas Nayak said, "I have enough proof. I had asked his appointment, but was not able to meet him personally. I kept the invitation at his office. I even invited the city municipal council president."

Dinesh Mendon, convener of Bajrang Dal, Sunil K R, divisional convenor and Santhosh Suvarna of VHP were present.

It is well known that temple managed by Govt is under control of the ruling party.
Appointments to temple management like committees, trustees or managing trustees are appointed purely by political party ruling at that time. There is huge lobbying for the same. This is true for whichever party is ruling.

So one can decide how the funds of these temple will be spent.

A desirable situation is all religious institutions should be out of Govt control and without any political interference. The management should be done through locally elected persons/ religious persons without any politics. But probably in this politically intense era it is bit difficult to achieve.

People of Karnataka, there are many other pressing priorities in front of us. This is not the priority issue to look at, when we have water scarcity, polution, sanitation issues, Compulsory education to all etc. No one is stopping them from sponsoring food to the poor, if they are really concerned.

Where was this Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal when Kalladka Bhat was misusing the Kollur temple funds for his own run schools?

They have problem with freedom of choice for food and imposed blanket ban on beef eating while exports go unabated.
Now temple serving vegetarian food to common people including Chief Minister as devote also problematic.
These fanatics have objection for eating, talking , sleeping, singing and so on.

What a far fetched idea. No rhyme nor reason. BJP have no issues against Sid to project it in the media so they are fabricating something out of nothing. Why the entire 3 day program of Dharma Sansad wasn't hosted at Sri Krishna Math while they could afford to cater food. Sid was a guest at Kollur temple and program was organized by private party congress people and no other political party members were involved in this program even some congress members could not attend, whereas Dharma Sansad was a global event attended by sections of various denominations of people far and near planned, organized and funded by VHP. BTW, global events can not be held at holy places where political discussions take place and desecrate the place.

VHP and BD are not satisfied even after recent spate of murders for political gain. Dharma Sand was organised by above organisations at behest of BJP gaining some Hindu votes for them and had nothing to do with Hindu religion. It was purely political event hence Kollur temple refused to supply food.

Kollur temple is not the property of Hindutwa right wing groups. It belongs to all Hindus and all devotees of across the world. They provided the food for state Chief minister's program and nothing wrong in it. If the right wing have any problem with this, let them apply Burnol. But jokers in this Press conference will not hesitate to call Kollur temple management is anti national.
